Christmas at the Follies
Every November and December, the Follies presents a lavish, holiday spectacular concluding with a gentle fall of snowflakes blanketing delighted theatergoers.
Candy-cane girls, a distaff Santa and her admirer, strolling bands of carolers and dancing penguins come together to make the Follies' Yuletide both joyous and unique. And for those who celebrate a different winter holiday, a cheery Chanukah bear presides over the fun!
A soaring medley of “Silent Night,” “Ave Maria” and “O’ Holy Night”; a comedic performance of “The Dreidel Song” by dancing rabbis; a burlesqued “Santa Baby”; and a shimmering onstage snowfall to the strains of “White Christmas” all combine to make the Follies’ holiday offering unlike anything you’ve seen before.
And this season, the festivities also include sensational guest star Susan Anton who returns to the Plaza Theatre stage with her very special tribute to the holiday season—with songs both traditional and contemporary. From “Boogie Woogie Santa Claus” to such classics as “Count Your Blessings” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, Anton delivers a fitting “Last Hurrah” for the Follies’ closing season.
Then, on December 31, the Follies presents two special New Year’s Eve performances at 3:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., each with a glittering champagne reception and hats and noisemakers to welcome in 2014 (“Rio de Janeiro midnight” for matinee-goers).
At the stroke of midnight on December 31, the bizarre, the hilarious, the joyous madness that is Christmas At the Follies will have come to a final, twinkling close … and The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies’ holiday season will have officially ended—forever! However, up to eight performances per week of this world-famous holiday extravaganza still remain, and while good seats are available, packed houses are expected for what is to be our holiday last hurrah. It's your final chance to celebrate the Yuletide with the Follies, and you won't want to miss it.
So if you are searching in vain for holiday spirit among the rush and crush of year-end obligations, The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies offers you a haven of joyful Christmas cheer and unforgettable New Year’s revelry.
