Default Buying House/Condo in PS

Hello - I'm an Australian thinking of buying a house or condo in Palm Springs. I've visited PS 3 times over the past 10 years and just love it. I'm a big fan of modernist architecture and love the desert and mountain landscape. The combination of the two is quite spectacular. My budget is not huge, around $280,000-340,000 depending on a few variables. If possible, I would love to find a house built between the late 50's and the late 70's, with a pool and established garden... I don't mind if it needs renovating (I probably prefer it). I would then do vacation rentals, using the house in between. I realise this is a massive ask considering my budget, and that I may need to consider a condo, but thought I would throw my dream out in to the virtual universe to see if anyone had any advice.

I've searched most of the real estate websites and am confident I've viewed almost every property from the north end to the south between $70,000 and 700,000.

If anyone has any pointers, I'd love to hear them! Thank you.
