Robolights 2014
Movie Colony East neighborhood of Palm Springs - 1077 E. Granvia Valmonte / What happens when you combine Santa Claus & Robots? Robolights! Although Robolights isn't a celebration of christmas, it is a massive whimsical futuristic winter wonderland set in the North Pole and built by artist Kenny Hassan Irwin, Jr. Started in 1986 at age 12, Irwin wanted to create a physical wonderland of lights combined with fantasy of imaginary other worldly North Pole themes run by robots. The display features a lifetime's worth of monumental and variety complex art that spans thirty years from the time Irwin was very little.

The architecture of the fairgrounds is that of a city in Morocco, and in that way is perhaps the most interesting of the fairgrounds to be found in Southern California. The market fills the palm tree fringed parking area of the fairgrounds. Shoppers can watch the sunset while buying "fresh from the field" produce picked that morning by our vendors. A trip for produce should always include the fresh dates that are grown in the immediate area. Nearly everything for the entire family can be found at reasonable prices by browsing the many aisles with the moon as your companion. Thursday November 27 Happy Thanksgiving!
The 16th Annual Turkey Trot
Old Town La Quinta:  The 16th Annual Turkey Trot The 16th Annual Turkey Trot is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27 at 7:30 a.m. This year's race will start and end on Main Street in Old Town La Quinta. The 5k run/walk will have a fast, flat course with beautiful desert landscape and panoramic views of the Santa Rosa Mountains. The race is suitable for all ages and levels of runners/walkers as well as dogs on leashes. There is plenty of free parking in Old Town, and participants and spectators are also encouraged to ride bikes to the event.

Advance registration is now open online at active.com. Registration is $30 for adults (ages 11 to 59), $25 for seniors (ages 60+), $25 for children (ages 10 and under) and $20 for cross country runners (ages 12 to 19). Registration day of the race is $35. A portion of the proceeds from the Turkey Trot will benefit Save-a-Pet, the no-kill shelter in Desert Hot Springs. Movie Colony East neighborhood of Palm Springs - 1077 E. Granvia Valmonte / What happens when you combine Santa Claus & Robots? Robolights! Although Robolights isn't a celebration of christmas, it is a massive whimsical futuristic winter wonderland set in the North Pole and built by artist Kenny Hassan Irwin, Jr. Started in 1986 at age 12, Irwin wanted to create a physical wonderland of lights combined with fantasy of imaginary other worldly North Pole themes run by robots. The display features a lifetime's worth of monumental and variety complex art that spans thirty years from the time Irwin was very little.

Lights will be on from 4-9pm daily. No admission, however, donations accepted which will help pay for maintenance costs. Dates: November 27 - January 6. A wondrous and futuristic North Pole holiday wonderland awaits all! More information: www.facebook.com/ROBOLIGHTS
